"The Imagination of War"

How do the literary, cinematographic and artistic representations of war from World War I to the present day have impacted on our current perception of violence and conflict?
To which extent the topical issues of anxiety, memory and resistance have been relevant in producing new codes and languages in contemporary culture?
This is the second part of the one-day conference (17 Oct) exploring some of the issues raised in the course Writing and Representing the Conflict, switching from the literary field as such to modern and postmodern, written, oral and visual representations of war in films and plays.
